The Apolaki Caldera is the world's largest volcanic caldera at 150 kilometers diameter. It is situated within the Benham Rise (Philippine Rise) and was discovered in 2019 by Filipino marine geophysicist Jenny Anne Barretto and her team. The name "Apolaki" means "giant lord" in Filipino and refers to a god of sun and war in some Philippine mythologies and indigenous folk religions.
