The common loon is, without doubt, one of the most unique and beautiful birds that call the Northeast home! This loon had a very quick turnaround after being found stranded away from any sources of water yesterday. After being transferred to us for care, our team made a thorough assessment and deemed this lucky loon ready to head straight back out. Our team coordinated with local partners to determine the body of water this loon was believed to have initially come from and they made a triumphant

This beautiful common loon repeatedly dove, but came up empty. It also took a break to scratch its head with its foot. 🥹 Common loons spend summers across much of Alaska, Canada and parts of northern states.
